Cindy Andrew

A former teacher with over 25 years of experience in the Education and Health Promotion sectors. Over the years, Cindy has worked with a wide array of government and non-government agencies, including ParticipACTION, the pan-Canadian Joint Consortium for School Health, the Coalition of Ontario Agencies for School Health, the Canadian Association for School Health, The Psychology Foundation of Canada, and more.

Mali Bain

An experienced facilitator and program manager. She is a certified BC teacher and holds a masters’ in Adult Learning and Education. She has had the opportunity to work alongside school district, provincial, and national leaders on school-centered mental health and wellbeing. She brings to her work experience as a teacher, non-profit program manager, and national partnership-builder.

Shirley Giroux

A Registered Clinical Counsellor whose PhD (Health Sciences) research on teachers’ resilience garnered her the Governor General’s Gold Medal and CSHRF 2018 Women’s Health Award (Silver), Shirley has been active in promoting staff wellbeing since 2014.  A certified Compassionate Systems Leadership Master Practitioner, experienced teacher, post-secondary lecturer, and erstwhile principal, Shirley sees working on behalf of educators’ wellbeing from a school’s-eye-view as key to keeping her work grounded in the realities of the classroom. She is the school counsellor (K-12) in Valemount, BC.

Gail Markin

A counsellor, teacher, and education consultant. She works part-time in the Langley school district supporting health and wellbeing for both staff and students. She is also currently working with BC Children’s Hospital to support mental health and well-being in rural and remote school districts. Gail is the vice-chair of Social Emotional Learning BC and sits on the BC School Centred Mental Health Coalition’s steering committee.

Charlie Naylor

Charlie Naylor, PhD, taught in secondary grades in Sheffield, U.K., and with unemployed youth in Melbourne, Australia. Prior to retirement, he was the Senior Researcher at the British Columbia Teachers’ Federation (BCTF). He is an Affiliated Scholar with Simon Fraser University and has worked as Coach to three B.C. school district teams addressing staff well-being.

Milly Ng

Milly Ng is a certified school psychologist with the Powell River School District in British Columbia. Her professional interest is to support learning, teaching, and the well-being of all members of the school community. Milly has been engaged in the
promotion of well-being in schools focused on initiatives that are meaningful and reflective of the needs of the community. She has a PhD in Educational Psychology.

Kim Weatherby

Kim Weatherby has worked in school health promotion for more than 15 years, with roles at the local, provincial, and national level in non-profits and government. She has led mental health work at the Joint Consortium for School Health, the BC Ministry of Education, and DASH BC.
